What is SSL?

SSL allows you to use https instead of http, the extra “s” means your connection to the website is secure and encrypted by an ssl certificate. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer which is the technology that powers the encryption. So when viewing a website using https the connection between your browser and the web server is secure, and no one can see / access what your type into the website.

Why do I need SSL?

Google will rank websites that are secure higher than a website that is not secure. Gives people confidence in your website, that it is secure, so any data they submit will be kept secure. Secures the administration side of your website.
